Porsche's intended replacement for the 911 featured a front-mounted all-alloy V8 paired with a rear-mounted transaxle gearbox, delivering near-perfect weight distribution and a level of refinement previously unseen from the Stuttgart marque. The galvanised steel bodyshell, aluminium doors and bonnet, and integrated polyurethane bumpers were all remarkably advanced for the era. Upon launch, the 928 was met with widespread acclaim and remains the only sports car ever to have been crowned European Car of the Year.

Critics immediately recognised the advances the 928 offered over its contemporaries. Fast, comfortable and technically sophisticated, it combined genuine long distance touring ability with exceptional road manners thanks to its precise steering, balanced chassis and innovative Weissach rear axle. Today, the 928 is rightly regarded as one of Porsche's greatest 'grand touring' cars, with low mileage, well preserved examples becoming increasingly sought after by collectors.

The S4 (Series 4), produced between 1987 and 1991, represented a major evolution and is widely considered the 'sweet spot' of the entire 18-year 928 production run. Porsche replaced the older recessed bumpers with sleek, rounded front and rear polyurethane aprons and it gained a black rear spoiler that stood flush against the body to reduce lift. Mechanically the S4 benefitted from larger brakes, ABS as standard, wider 16-inch alloy wheels and the 5.0-litre, 32-valve DOHC all-aluminium V8 now generated an impressive 320bhp.

A particularly special right-hand drive example of the 1990 Porsche 928 S4, this automatic transmission car has covered less than 6,600 miles from new. Previously forming part of the Royal Household of Brunei, it was imported into the UK in 2017 and was subsequently treated to a meticulous recommissioning programme, with in excess of £17,000 invested in works including a cambelt replacement, new tyres, a heater system service and refurbishment of the ABS wiring loom.

Finished in timeless Grand Prix White over a black leather interior enhanced by distinctive red piping, the car retains a wonderfully original appearance. Factory equipment includes air conditioning, electrically operated windows and mirrors, electrically adjustable front seats and cruise control, underlining the model's credentials as a true high-speed grand tourer.

The 928 was last serviced at 5,063 miles by renowned Porsche specialist Project Nine Engineering, who also carried out the cambelt replacement. Further benefitting from recent expenditure, the car was entrusted to DB Autos in April 2026, where £767 was spent on maintenance including refurbishment of the steering rack and a full wheel alignment. It is additionally offered with an MOT valid until 26th November 2026.

Offered from a significant private Collection, this exceptionally low-mileage 928 S4 represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest surviving examples of Porsche's landmark V8 Grand Tourer. Combining Royal provenance and a mileage that is almost impossible to replicate, this is a compelling proposition for collectors and marque enthusiasts alike.
