  • Genuine barn find restoration project
  • Fitted with a 4.2 litre Range Rover engine
  • Largely complete and unmodified example

A highly characterful and increasingly rare Rover P5B Saloon offered as a straightforward restoration project and genuine barn find opportunity. Displaying all the unmistakable presence and stately charm that made the P5B a favourite amongst government ministers, executives and dignitaries throughout the 1960s and 1970s, this example has been stored for a number of years and now presents an ideal basis for recommissioning or full restoration.

Finished in Dark Blue with a contrasting light interior, the car retains much of its original charm and period character. Under the bonnet sits a 4.2 litre Range Rover engine, fitted with twin SU carburettors, an engine renowned for its smoothness, reliability and excellent parts availability. The engine bay appears notably complete, while the car also retains many desirable original features throughout.

Inside, the cabin presents as largely complete, featuring its elegant wood dashboard, original instrumentation and cream upholstery. The interior will naturally require recommissioning and cosmetic attention following long-term storage, although it remains an honest and remarkably intact environment for a car of this age.

Externally, the Rover displays the patina and signs of age expected of a genuine stored example. Corrosion is visible around areas including the screens, bodywork and brightwork, while the chrome bumpers exhibit surface corrosion and age-related wear. Importantly however, the vehicle appears substantially complete and unspoilt, making it an attractive candidate for sympathetic restoration.

According to the history supplied, the Rover was last MOT tested in 2014, at which point the recorded mileage was showing approximately 5,817 miles. Having been stored ever since, the mileage should therefore be considered assumed rather than warranted.

The Rover P5B remains one of Britain’s most distinguished luxury Saloons, combining graceful styling and excellent road manners. Restoration projects of this type are becoming increasingly difficult to find in complete condition, offering enthusiasts an excellent opportunity to return a charismatic British classic to the road.
