Finished in Kawasaki’s unmistakable bright green livery, this ZX-6R represents a superb example of the iconic early-2000s middleweight sports bike and remains one of the most recognisable Japanese superbikes of its era.
Purchased by the current owner last year as a non-runner, the bike has since been stripped, rebuilt and recommissioned, with the vendor advising that it now runs well and presents extremely nicely overall. The result is a sharp-looking and usable modern classic sports bike that captures the raw analogue feel of the period superbike era.
The bike presents well cosmetically, with the fairings retaining a strong shine and the overall appearance benefiting from the aggressive styling that made the ZX-6R such a success when new. The green wheels, black frame and twin-headlamp front end remain instantly identifiable and continue to age remarkably well.
This example is fitted with a Scorpion exhaust silencer, adding to both the visual appeal and soundtrack of the bike. The odometer currently displays approximately 39,372 miles.
As shown in the accompanying photographs, there are a handful of cosmetic imperfections consistent with age and use. These include areas of corrosion to some fasteners and drivetrain components, marks to sections of the frame and a torn rear passenger seat pad. Importantly, a seat cowl/cover is included with the bike to cover the rear seat area if desired. The overall presentation nevertheless remains very appealing and the bike offers an honest and usable appearance rather than being overly restored.
The bike is offered without MOT, although the vendor advises that it runs well following the recommissioning works completed during current ownership.
Increasingly appreciated by enthusiasts as analogue sports bikes continue to rise in popularity, the ZX-6R offers sharp styling, proven reliability and an engaging riding experience from an era before modern electronics began to dominate the superbike world.
