Originally conceived by Sir Alec Issigonis as a lightweight military utility vehicle based upon the mechanicals of the legendary Mini, the Mini Moke would go on to achieve cult status around the world as one of the most recognisable and entertaining recreational vehicles ever produced.

Although its military ambitions proved short-lived, the Moke found enormous popularity in warmer climates and coastal resorts, becoming synonymous with beach life, holiday homes and carefree open-air motoring. Today, surviving examples enjoy an enthusiastic following thanks to their unmistakable styling, simple mechanicals and enormous charm.

Offered here is a delightful 1969 Morris Mini Moke finished in traditional Green with a matching Dark Green hood and Black vinyl upholstery. Imported from Jersey to the UK in 2007 by its current owner, the car has remained in the same ownership ever since, making this a notably long-term enthusiast-kept example.

The Moke presents as an honest, highly usable and appealing example that perfectly suits the car’s relaxed and utilitarian character. The paintwork remains generally tidy throughout, showing some minor blemishes, small blisters and age-related imperfections consistent with sensible enjoyment over the years rather than over-restoration. Importantly, the vehicle retains exactly the sort of authentic appearance many enthusiasts actively seek in these charismatic little cars.

The hood is also presented in good usable condition, with only a small professionally stitched repair to the centre section reportedly around the size of a 50 pence piece. The simple open-sided design, folding hood arrangement and exposed structure remain among the defining features that continue to make the Moke such a unique driving experience today.

Inside, the cabin is wonderfully minimalist and true to the Moke’s original concept. Black vinyl seats provide simple and durable accommodation, while the painted metal dashboard and exposed controls reinforce the car’s delightfully functional personality. Aluminium chequer plate trim panels have been fitted to the upper body sides to offer additional protection, while the original port cover panels accompany the vehicle should a future owner wish to return the car to a more factory-style appearance.

The car rides on attractive non-original Minilite-style wheels which suit the Moke particularly well and complement its playful period appearance. Mechanically, the car was driven to the showroom and appears to perform exactly as a usable classic Mini-based vehicle should.

The history file includes various previous paper MOT certificates, service invoices from 2010 and 2017 and the Mini Moke driver’s handbook.

While the early Jersey history is not present, the available MOT documentation and long-term ownership suggest the displayed mileage may well be genuine, although this cannot be fully verified.

Compact, lightweight and instantly recognisable, the Mini Moke remains one of the most enjoyable and entertaining classics of its era. Equally at home at shows, holiday homes, campsites or simply used for sunny weekend motoring, it offers a driving experience unlike almost anything else on the road.

A hugely charismatic British classic with enormous charm, ideal for summer use, classic events and relaxed open-air motoring.
