At the Geneva Motor Show in March 1965, Lancia unveiled the elegant Fulvia 1.2 Coupe. With its timeless, graceful design, the Fulvia Coupe is considered Pietro Castagnero's masterpiece. The Fulvia Coupe was based on the sedan's platform but with a shortened wheelbase of 2330 mm. Featuring an enlarged 1216 cc engine delivering 59 kW (80 hp) at 6000 rpm, an improved chassis, a weight of only 960 kg, and a drag coefficient of 0,39, the first-production coupe achieved a top speed of 160 km/h. From the spring of 1967 to the end of 1969, the Fulvia 1.2 Coupe was also available with unchanged power output but with a 1231 cc engine. The Fulvia 1.2 HF coupe entered the market in early 1966. The 1216 cc engine now delivered 65 kW (88 hp), and the weight was reduced to 825 kg through the use of aluminium bonnets and Plexiglas windows. This model marked the beginning of the sporting successes of the Fulvia series.
