Inspired by the RE/WD Flying Flea 125cc motorcycle as used in Operation Market Garden

This handsome 'Pegasus' special edition was inspired by the RE/WD Flying Flea 125cc motorcycle, manufactured at Royal Enfield's underground facility in Westwood, U.K, during WWII and made famous by its use in Operation Market Garden (as portrayed in the book and film of ‘A Bridge Too Far’). At the Battle of Arnhem, Britain’s 1st Airborne Division (hence the Pegasus emblem) held out against German tanks for seven days, often relying on Flying Flea despatch bikes as their sole means of communication.

Delivered new to the Guernsey owner/vendor straight from the factory in 2018, this Royal Enfield Bullet Classic EFI E4 is the 500cc military replica model was manufactured in India. It has had only the one owner from new, having been supplied to the current vendor in 2018 and immediately placed into storage, although intended for use, the machine never was.

The machine has seen virtually no use throughout its life and has only recently been run for the first time when it was brought to the owner’s son in England, accounting for its total recorded mileage of just 4 miles, which also includes minimal movement while in storage. As a result, it presents very much as it would have done when originally supplied, with the bodywork and paintwork remaining in excellent condition. The panniers are also described as being in equally fine order.

In terms of maintenance, the bike has recently been fitted with a new battery, started readily and we are also advised that it ran well. The accompanying documentation includes the original tool-kit, the owner’s manual complete with an unused service record section due to the lack of use—a sales invoice from when the bike was first purchased, a Guernsey Registration Certificate, and the Certificate of Conformity supplied when new.
