- The original Norton Commando is widely regarded as the last truly great British superbike before Japanese manufacturers came to dominate the market
- Introduced in late 1967 and sold from 1968 onwards, the Commando was developed by Norton-Villiers as a replacement for the ageing Atlas
- It combined a powerful 745cc parallel-twin engine with a revolutionary rubber-mounted chassis called the Isolastic frame
- Instead of bolting the engine rigidly into the frame, Norton mounted the engine, gearbox, and swingarm assembly on tunable rubber isolators. This dramatically reduced the vibration that plagued large British twins while preserving good handling. At the time, it was a genuinely innovative solution
- Originally exported to the USA, this smart example returned to the UK in 2023
- Supplied with a current V5C, correctly classed as Historic, along with correspondence from the Norton Owners Club
- A very clean example of the ever-popular Commando, described by our vendor as running and riding well
