Developed under the watchful eye of Chief Executive Peter Schutz, Porsche's 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was the first time Porsche had used the name 'Carrera' since its legendary Carrera 2.7 RS. Estimated to be 80 percent new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to a five-speed manual transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible, making the model capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and a 153mph top speed. To cope with the increased performance, the brakes were enlarged and the top two gear ratios slightly raised. Among other improvements was a redesigned timing chain tensioner - the Achilles heel of earlier 911 engines. Produced from 1984 to 1989, the Carrera 3.2 was available in Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa body styles, and was upgraded throughout its lifetime, with one of the most notable additions being the 'G50' five-speed manual transmission from 1987.

This Slate Grey example of the 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet has been in the care of our vendor since 2012. During his ownership, he moved to Germany, where he continued to look after the car, at one point keeping it in the care of Porsche itself. It's offered with a current MoT test certificate and comprehensive MoT and service history. Several German TÜV certificates (MoT equivalent, tested biennually) are also included in the history file. Despite showing eight previous owners, our vendor informs us that when the car was exported to Munich, it was re-registered to his partner and the opposite happened when the car returned to the United Kingdom. Overall, then, this is a thoroughly well-maintained example of the seminal sportscar of the 80s, and with a strong service history, is ready for the open roads with its new owner.
