Rolls-Royce's 20/25 was one of its most important pre-war models and became its best-selling inter-war car. Remarkably, of the near 4,000 produced, more than 70% survive; a testament to the marque's high-quality craftsmanship and engineering. Introduced in 1929 as a development of the earlier 20hp, the 20/25 featured a larger 3,669cc overhead-valve straight-six engine, providing improved performance while maintaining the marque's hallmark smoothness and reliability. Its robust chassis allowed for a wide variety of coachbuilt bodies, many of which are now prized for their individuality and craftsmanship. Even today, the 20/25 remains one of Rolls-Royce's standout models: a perfect balance of refinement, performance and versatility.
This handsome 1933 example is fitted with coachwork by Thrupp & Maberly, beautifully presented in a striking black and ivory colour scheme complemented by a sumptuous blue leather interior and finely finished wood trim. Power comes from the 3,669cc overhead-valve straight-six engine, which retains the effortless smoothness and near-silent running that have long defined the Rolls-Royce driving experience. The gearbox performs exceptionally well and benefits from the recent replacement of the clutch and thrust bearing.
Cherished as part of a substantial private collection for over a quarter of a century, this handsome 20/25 has been carefully preserved, regularly maintained and dry stored throughout its ownership. With the vendor now reducing the size of his collection, the car is offered for sale and represents an excellent opportunity to acquire a distinguished example of one of Rolls-Royce's most important pre-war designs. Elegant, characterful and eminently usable, it offers an appealing introduction to the world of coachbuilt motoring. Consigned by Charlie McCreery
