We are delighted to offer this wonderfully original 1979 Ford Cortina Mk4 2.3 Ghia Automatic, finished in period gold coachwork with matching brown Ghia interior trim and vinyl roof.

Purchased brand new by the vendor’s father from Hooleys Garage, Nottingham, in 1979 for the sum of £5,023.78, this charming Cortina has remained within the same family ever since and today presents as an exceptionally honest and usable survivor. Showing just 33,844 miles from new, it retains a remarkable sense of originality throughout and is accompanied by its original dealer-supplied documentation including the bill of sale, Cortina handbook and owner’s literature.

Powered by Ford’s smooth and characterful 2.3-litre V6 engine paired with an automatic gearbox, the Ghia represented the top end of Cortina ownership during the late 1970s, combining comfort, refinement and understated luxury. The wonderfully preserved brown velour interior, wood-effect dashboard and factory automatic selector all contribute to a genuinely nostalgic driving experience.

Perhaps most fascinatingly, this Cortina has enjoyed an extensive life on screen, having featured in numerous well-known British television and film productions over the years. Credits include ‘Boon’, ‘Peak Practice’, ‘Control’, ‘Sherwood’ Series 2 and 3, and notably many productions within the ‘This Is England’ franchise, giving it a unique cultural provenance rarely seen with examples of this type.

Mechanically, the Cortina has recently benefitted from substantial recommissioning work including a new brake master cylinder, front brake callipers, front flexible brake hoses, part stainless steel exhaust system and a new battery, helping ensure it remains a highly usable classic today.

Importantly, this is not a restored or over finished example. Instead, it remains exactly the sort of genuinely original Cortina enthusiasts increasingly seek out - honest, unspoilt and retaining the character and charm that can only truly exist once.

A hugely evocative and increasingly rare Mk4 Cortina Ghia with outstanding provenance, low ownership and genuine originality throughout.
