  • Starts easily, runs, drives & stops
  • Very rare MK1 Vignale Interceptor
  • Just three owners from new
  • An opportunity not to be missed

The Jensen Interceptor remains one of Britain’s most charismatic grand touring motor cars, hand-crafted by Jensen Motors at the Kelvin Way factory in West Bromwich between 1966 and 1976. Reviving a distinguished name first used by Jensen during the 1950s, the Interceptor combined effortless performance with unmistakable Italian styling, creating a motor car of enduring desirability and presence. Unlike earlier Jensen models that utilised glass-reinforced plastic body construction, the Interceptor marked a return to a traditional steel-bodied design. Penned by the renowned Italian design house Carrozzeria Touring and initially assembled by Vignale in Italy, the earliest examples such as this MK1 are now regarded among the rarest and most collectible of the model line, admired for their subtle detailing and elegant coachbuilt character.

Presented today as an exciting and highly worthwhile restoration opportunity, this early Vignale-built Interceptor starts readily from the key and is reported to run, drive and stop well. It retains a notably solid overall structure, although cosmetic and bodywork attention is now required to return it to its former glory. There is evidence of a potential power steering fluid leak, though it has benefitted from a considerable amount of recent mechanical expenditure.

The vendor advises that both cylinder heads have been professionally removed, overhauled and pressure tested by Head Shop Warrington, with accompanying supporting invoices. Further recommissioning works include all four brake callipers being removed, cleaned and overhauled with new pistons, seals and brake pads, along with replacement flexible brake hoses and a full system bleed. In addition, it has received a comprehensive service including fresh oils and filters, together with a new distributor cap, points, rotor arm, spark plugs and ignition leads.

An exceptionally rare and increasingly sought-after early Vignale Interceptor, offered with remarkably few former keepers, this handsome grand tourer represents a rare opportunity for the discerning enthusiast or collector seeking a rewarding restoration project with significant long-term appeal.

Opportunities to acquire such an original and early example are becoming increasingly scarce, making this one that is surely not to be missed.
