The Montreal is a two-seater sports car from the Italian Alfa Romeo of the 1970s. The car had its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show in 1970, three years after a similar prototype was shown at the 1967 World's Fair in Montreal. Equipped with a 2593 cc eight-cylinder engine—a milder version of a racing engine, incidentally—the car produced 220 hp. The V8 featured two overhead camshafts per cylinder bank and a Spica fuel injection system. All of this was coupled to a five-speed ZF gearbox. The car was delivered in 1971 for a sum of 41.225 guilders. The bodywork was designed by Marcello Gandini, who worked for the design firm Bertone at the time. The Montreal features air intakes behind the doors. These were intended for the rear-mounted mid-engine with which the prototype was equipped. Ultimately, the V8 was placed at the front in the production model, but the intake grilles were retained for styling reasons.
