The Aston Martin DB7 was produced from September 1994 to December 2004 and was designed by Ian Callum and Keith Helfet as a grand tourer, available as a coupe and convertible. The prototype was ready as early as November 1992 and made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1993. The six-cylinder DB7, based on the Jaguar AJ6 engine, was positioned at the time as the entry-level model below the hand-built V8 Virage. With over 7.000 units built, the DB7 became the most produced Aston Martin to date, until it was succeeded by the DB9 in 2004. In 1999, Aston Martin introduced the more powerful DB7 V12 Vantage at the Geneva Motor Show. This is equipped with the 5,9-liter 48-valve V12 engine, producing 426 hp and 542 Nm of torque, with a compression ratio of 10,3:1. There was a choice between a six-speed manual gearbox (TREMEC T-56) and a five-speed automatic (ZF 5HP30). Aston Martin quoted a top speed of 299 km/h with the manual and 266 km/h with the automatic, with a sprint from 0-97 km/h in 4,9 seconds.
