For many car enthusiasts, the 90s were the finest years. It was the era of poster cars. F40s, F50s, EB110s, and of course Diablos: many a bedroom was filled with them. Jaguar ventured onto this battlefield with the XJ220, aiming to demonstrate that a Jaguar was not just for elderly men in red corduroy trousers. Initially, the prototype was equipped with a V12 under the glass cover, but strict emission standards thwarted those plans. It proved too expensive to build the car with this engine, so an alternative was sought. That became a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, which had already proven itself in rally racing with sister company Rover. Initially, it did not seem like a fortunate choice for a supercar, yet the XJ220 was the fastest production car in the world upon its introduction. The car was developed and built in collaboration with TWR (Tom Walkinshaw Racing). Ultimately, only 281 examples were built. It is therefore a unique car, and we are proud to offer this example.
