This SL 60 AMG began life as a U.S.-market 500 SL, ordered new in Arctic White over Blue leather. It included a high level of equipment featuring electric memory seats, automatic climate control, cruise control, heat-insulating glass with a heated rear window, an anti-theft warning system, a dark blue soft top, and a Becker Radio Grand Prix 2000 paired with a factory sound system.

At the heart of any AMG is its engine. In this SL, the 5.0-liter M119 V8 was bored to 6.0 liters by AMG, lifting output from a factory-rated 322 horsepower to 381 horsepower. The transformation included an AMG body kit, 17-inch three-piece AMG Aero III wheels with color matched centers, rear spoiler, and white-faced gauges. Complementing the blue leather is the extensive use of glossy wood trim which also houses a dash mounted Panasonic TV. All of these are hallmarks of the marque's early tuning aesthetic in Japan.

The clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report documents that the car was imported from Japan to Oakland, California in September 1995, remaining registered there for nearly three decades before relocating to Florida in 2023 and then Illinois in March 2024. It is reported that the car received an extensive mechanical restoration by RENNtech during its time in Florida.

Few AMG creations from this formative era capture the marque's tuning ethos as completely as the SL 60. Built before AMG became a wholly integrated Mercedes-Benz division, this example represents genuine engineering-led performance and a reported recent RENNtech mechanical restoration combining to offer a rare, well-specified opportunity to own a potent premerger AMG.
