The 1964 Sunbeam Tiger is a legendary British-American sports car born from the collaboration between the British Rootes Group and American racing icon Carroll Shelby. Conceived as a high-performance, compact roadster, the car dropped a hefty 4.3L (260 cu in) Ford V8 into the chassis of the relatively docile Sunbeam Alpine. The result was a classic "sleeper" capable of reaching 60 mph in under 8 seconds with a top speed of over 118 mph.

Production & History
- The Shelby Touch: Following his success with the AC Cobra, Carroll Shelby was enlisted to engineer the V8 shoehorned into the Alpine chassis. Actual production was contracted to Jensen Motors in West Bromwich, England, rather than Shelby's American facilities.

- The "Get Smart" Car: The Sunbeam Tiger gained widespread pop-culture fame as the vehicle of choice for Maxwell Smart in the opening credits of the 1960s TV spy-comedy Get Smart.

- The Chrysler Demise: Production ran from 1964 to 1967. It was canceled prematurely after Chrysler acquired the Rootes Group, as Chrysler was highly unwilling to continue building a flagship sports car powered by their major rival, Ford.
