- Introduced in 1986, the Kawasaki GPZ1000RX is a fascinating late-1980s superbike and an important link between the famous GPZ900R and Kawasaki’s later ZX-10 and ZZR machines, as Kawasaki moved the GPZ/Ninja concept into the all-important 1.0-litre class
- Kawasaki took the GPZ900R formula and substantially re-engineered it. The 1000RX got an all-new aluminium perimeter-style frame, rubber-mounted engine, Uni-Trak rear suspension and AVDS (Automatic Variable Damping System) anti-dive front suspension. Kawasaki also used a cool-air induction system to help feed the 16-valve motor - it therefore looks like a classic 1980s Kawasaki, but underneath it's an important step toward the much more sophisticated superbikes that followed
- This fabulous time-warp machine remains in totally original condition having covered just 4,057 miles from new. Supplied new by Kawasaki Newcastle, the bike is accompanied by its original bill of sale and was purchased by a Mr Bell who had the bike in his name until 1996 when for some reason it was transferred into (we believe) his wife's name. In 2012 it was returned back into his name and then purchased by our vendor last year, so essentially it has had just two owners
- Our vendor believes that it has never seen rain and on its first service invoice (supplied) it says 'the owner requests do not test ride in the rain'. The bike has covered minimal mileage over the years and this is confirmed by all of the MOTs which are present: 1992: 2,015 miles, 1993: 2,306 miles, 1994: 2,448 miles, 1995: 2,730 miles, 2005: 3,392 miles, 2006: 3,561 miles, 2014: 3,966 miles and 2025: 4,006 miles
- Purchased by our vendor in 2025 (he runs a British Superbike Team), he set about fully recommissioning the bike and it has completed just 50 miles since being MOT'd last year and is complete with new tyres. The bike was fully set up on a Dynojet resulting in an output of 107bhp at the rear wheel and the bike starts immediately and runs and rides exceptionally well, with everything working as it should
- Supplied with current V5C (along with one for the previous owner), old MOTs and invoices, original owner's manuals and handbooks, period brochures, period magazines with test features, both original keys and an unused original tool kit
- A great opportunity to purchase a totally original, low mileage example of Kawasaki's big '80's sports bike, that is running and riding well
