The design evolved from a racing project by MG designer Syd Enever and was strikingly modern for its time. Yet it is perhaps the simplicity that still works so well today. In essence, it has the proportions of a classic British roadster exactly as you might draw them if you were starting from scratch.
This MGA was built in 1958 and therefore began life as a 1500. This MG has been comprehensively restored with real expertise. Not quickly freshened up, not merely treated cosmetically, but extensively rebuilt over a period of approximately three years, right down to the smallest details. A true nut-and-bolt restoration, with the car addressed step by step. That process is also exceptionally well documented. The car comes with an extensive collection of invoices that gives a clear picture of just how much work, time, and attention went into it.
The body is finished in Glacier Blue, perhaps one of the most beautiful colors for an MGA. The light blue suits the lines of the car perfectly and combines especially well with the chrome, which likewise presents in very neat condition.
The picture is just as convincing inside. The black interior has been finished with care, with the correct details and without losing the car's classic character. Everything feels exactly where it belongs. Not over-restored, not clinical, but precisely the way you hope a properly rebuilt MGA should look.
The most interesting part, however, is not something you immediately see. You feel it. Under the hood is a 1600 engine, paired with the matching transmission and combined with a 3.9 differential. On paper, those may seem like relatively modest changes, but from behind the wheel they make a surprisingly substantial difference.
The original charm of the MGA remains completely intact; the car simply feels more complete. Stronger. The 1600 engine provides just a little more reserve and makes the car feel livelier, while the revised final-drive ratio allows it to feel more relaxed and composed at higher speeds.
The engine starts immediately, runs beautifully, and the car drives exactly as a good MGA should: light, direct, and mechanical. But thanks to the upgrades, you also get just a little extra. More flexibility, greater usability, and above all the feeling that everything works together exactly as it should.
