The Mercedes-Benz SL of the R129 generation appeared at the end of the 1980s and set the tone for an entirely new generation of roadsters. Sharper, more modern, and technically more advanced than its predecessor. The power-operated convertible top, integrated seat belts, and automatically deploying roll bar were highly progressive for their time, but fortunately the car still did what an SL is supposed to do best: cover long distances in comfort and complete relaxation.
