Picture the Autobahn in the early 1990s. On the left, a Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC. On the right, a Porsche 928 GTS. Two completely different cars, both built for high speeds, long distances, and above all a great deal of comfort while the miles disappear beneath you. Which one would you choose?

The 928 first appeared in the late 1970s as a completely different interpretation of what a Porsche could be. No rear-mounted engine, but a V8 up front. No traditional 911 layout, but a transaxle configuration with the transmission mounted at the rear to achieve an excellent weight distribution. With the 928, Porsche wanted to create a modern Gran Turismo capable of covering great distances with effortless ease.

Over the years, the 928 was continuously developed. More power, better brakes, a sharper chassis, and ultimately the version many enthusiasts today regard as the pinnacle: the GTS.
The 928 GTS arrived in the early 1990s and received, among other things, a 5.4-liter V8, larger brakes, and subtle changes to the bodywork. The rear became slightly wider, while the 17-inch Cup wheels suit the car perfectly. Nothing excessive. Just enough to make it clear that this is no ordinary 928.

The example we are offering is finished in black over black. Elegant. Tough. Timeless. In fact, exactly the combination that suits a 928 GTS. This Porsche was ordered and delivered new in Germany and was maintained there for many years by dealers and specialists. That is also reflected in the documentation. The original books are present, together with a substantial stack of invoices and other documents that provide a clear picture of the car's history.

And then there is the way it drives. That is where this Porsche really makes an impression. The 928 GTS feels solid, powerful, and exceptionally mature. The V8 delivers its power with remarkable smoothness, and the car feels exactly the way you hope a Porsche from the 1990s should feel. Firm, stable, and built to devour miles. That is precisely what makes the 928 GTS so interesting.

It is not a sports car that constantly demands corrections at the steering wheel. It is a car you can get into in the morning and step out of a few hours later, hundreds of miles down the road, without feeling as though you have had to work hard for it. And then you look back one more time. Wide rear end. Cup wheels. Black on black. Perhaps this was one of the most outrageous Autobahn cars of its era.
