Brescia, 1949. Early morning, crowded streets, racing numbers on the doors, and hundreds of cars preparing for one of Europe's toughest road races. Among the large Alfa Romeos, Ferraris, and other sports cars, a small Fiat is also waiting at the start. Not the biggest engine. Not the most power. But light, streamlined, and built with only one purpose in mind: to cross Italy as quickly as possible. And this Fiat was there.

This 1947 1100 S has documented participation in the 1949 Mille Miglia. That gives it something you simply cannot add to a car later in life: genuine period racing history. Since then, it has returned to the event many more times. In total, this Fiat has now completed the Mille Miglia twelve times. That makes its nickname almost inevitable. This is the Mille Miglia veteran.

Fiat developed the 1100 S shortly after World War II as a much sportier interpretation of the regular 1100. Dante Giacosa designed a compact coupe in which aerodynamics played a major role. The low body, enclosed rear wheels, and distinctive nose were not simply styling features; everything was designed around speed and efficiency. At a time when 60 horsepower was already quite something, a lightweight car like this could be surprisingly fast.

This 1100 was extensively restored and completely rebuilt mechanically. Great attention was paid to the details, ensuring that the final result is convincing not only when you are standing beside it, but also when you are out on the road. The engine produces approximately 60 horsepower and gives this small Fiat exactly the lively character you would hope for from a historic Italian sports car.

The condition is exceptionally well cared for. The bodywork, interior, finish, and technical details clearly show how much attention was devoted to the car during the restoration. It is the kind of car you first spend five minutes walking around, then another few minutes browsing through the photographs, and after that there is really only one thing you want to do: get in. The Fiat is supplied with a compiled history file documenting its background and event participation.

And then 2027 slowly draws closer. One hundred years after the first Mille Miglia, Brescia will once again become the place where enthusiasts from all over the world gather. For someone who does not merely want to watch, but wants to appear at the start in a car with genuine Mille Miglia history, it is difficult to imagine a more fitting candidate. The participant? That title is one it has more than earned by now.
