Ford introduced this version as a lighter and more focused evolution of the regular GT. Weight was reduced through measures including a titanium exhaust system, titanium wheel nuts, carbon-fiber wheels, and a polycarbonate rear hatch. At the same time, the car remained fully road legal and retained features such as air conditioning, a radio, and the SYNC3 system. In other words, exactly the right balance: less weight where it matters, without turning the car into something that can only be used on a racetrack.
The Carbon Series is also immediately recognizable. Exposed carbon fiber runs as striping across the body and reappears on elements such as the A-pillars, the lower sections of the doors, and throughout the interior. This example is finished in Shadow Black with exposed carbon, and the combination works exceptionally well.
It is estimated that only around fifty Carbon Series examples were built. That makes this version particularly scarce even within the already limited production run of the modern Ford GT. The Ford GT we are offering was ordered and delivered new in Europe and has covered just 1,500 kilometers. Its condition is therefore virtually exactly what you would expect from a car with such minimal mileage.
Beneath the bodywork lies perhaps the most interesting part of the story. The modern GT was developed around a carbon-fiber monocoque and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo EcoBoost V6. It was not chosen to sound nostalgic, but because Ford wanted to build a car that could genuinely compete at the highest level. That gives the GT something very special: it looks exotic, but the engineering is above all functional.
The proportions, the open air channels, the low seating position, and the active rear wing were not designed simply to create a poster car. They are there because that is what the car needed in order to work. And precisely because of that, it ultimately became a poster car anyway.
With just 1,500 kilometers, European delivery, Shadow Black with exposed carbon, and the exceptionally rare Carbon Series specification, this is exactly the kind of Ford GT that belongs in a serious collection.
