• Evocation of 1950s Triumph classics

Combining Harley-Davidson character with understated British styling, this 'Speed V Twin' takes inspiration from Edward Turner's 1950s Triumph classics. Based on a 1991 Evo Softail, it was transformed by Viv Cowley of V-Moto, Oxfordshire, whose engineering pedigree includes the Bloodhound SSC project, Kenny Roberts' Grand Prix motorcycle team and Jaguar's Le Mans programme.

The original frame, 1,340cc Evolution engine, gearbox, rear brake assembly and oil tank remain, with other components replaced or modified. The engine is standard apart from a K&N filter, complemented by a two-into-one exhaust and custom peashooter silencer. Sportster 39mm forks use narrower machined yokes, a Burly lowering kit and modified Lowbrow shrouds, while progressive rear suspension lowers the rear by two inches. Morad aluminium wheels, measuring 19 inches front and 18 inches rear, wear Avon Speedmaster and Michelin tyres respectively. A replacement Harley-Davidson front disc and caliper provide braking.

The craftsmanship is particularly evident in the metalwork. Triumph T100 mudguards were reshaped to fit, with concealed rear mounting and a purpose-made number plate housing continuing the central rib. The rear frame horns were removed and reprofiled. A 4½ gallon Sportster custom tank sits lower on the frame, decorated with individually hand-formed stainless-steel flashes following its compound curves, secured by hidden mounts.

Discreet modern instrumentation preserves the uncluttered appearance. A Motogadget digital display sits within the Sportster handlebars, alongside Motone switches, bar-end indicators and old school hand controls. A motorcycle wiring specialist installed the electrics, including a Motogadget M-Unit, keyless ignition and push-button starting. A custom aluminium cover conceals the lithium-ion battery and control unit beneath the sprung saddle. Finished in black two-pack paint with hand-applied gold and red pinstriping, matching powder-coated components, a CNC-cut V-Moto headstock logo and a Francis-Barnett rear light, this thoughtfully executed build brings together traditional styling and bespoke fabrication.

UK registered from new with three former keepers, it displays 1,330 miles. The original odometer reportedly recorded 7,835 miles before its digital replacement, giving a stated combined mileage of 9,165. Consigned by Mathew Priddy
