This early 1000 (Series III) “Moggy” is a genuine Convertible example, showcasing chassis number ‘MAT3726985' with the 948cc engine. This is a remarkably low owner example, with only 1 former keeper recorded on the V5, the previous owner having had the vehicle since 1959. Not only is the current V5 provided but also a previous V5, which shows zero previous owners recorded. An astonishing 67 years!
First registered in the UK 20th May 1959, this example is finished in Grey with the complimenting red interior and what looks to be beige hood (a common colour that most grey hoods faded into according to forums). The “Moggy” remains a charming British classic that has retained a following, understandably so.
The vendor describes the overall condition of this example as ‘good’ and considers the vehicle to be ‘solid’ and in belived to be in original condition. The paintwork presents well and the hood looks to be in very good condition, folding up and down with no issues. The interior also presents as being well preserved, with the seats, carpets and door cards all remaining in good condition.
The vendor advises that the vehicle is a running and driving example, although it will require a new battery and attention to the brakes will be needed due to slight binding. Unfortunately, the vehicles original paperwork has been lost over the years, but the car is provided with a current V5, the aforementioned V5, and a gov.uk MOT history print out, showing MOTs from 2006 to 2012.
The vendor believes the mileage to be genuine, telling us that the vehicle was only ever used as a weekend car by the previous owner, however due to lack of history, this cannot be verified. Since its last MOT in 2012 (at 5,907 miles), the vehicle has only covered an astonishing 1,440 miles and having been with the same owner since 1959, as well as being well looked after, it wouldn’t be a surprise the vehicle has done little miles.
Interestingly, the vehicle also has some badges and plaques from local car meets. So whether you're a classic car enthusiast or someone looking for their first time classic car, this is a lovely example that wil attract attention wherever it goes.
