One of just 135 examples produced, the Lotus Esprit Turbo HC represented the final development of the celebrated Giugiaro-designed sports car before its facelift. The 'HC' designation denoted High Compression, with the 2.2-litre Lotus 910S DOHC 16-valve turbocharged engine benefiting from larger inlet and exhaust valves, forged aluminium pistons, twin Dellorto carburettors and electronic ignition. Producing 215bhp and 220lb-ft of torque, the Esprit was capable of 0-60mph in just 5.3 seconds and a top speed of 152mph. Beneath its striking composite bodywork, the steel backbone chassis, double-wishbone suspension, ventilated disc brakes and close-ratio five-speed gearbox provided the precise handling for which Lotus was renowned.

Finished in desirable Monaco Red over cream leather, this particular Esprit was originally purchased from Frosts of Shoreham, Sussex in 1989 for £21,999 and has had just two owners from new. The second owner's father enjoyed the car for approximately eight years before ill health resulted in it being placed into secure, dry storage in the late 1990s, where it remained for more than three decades. In summer 2025, the car was entrusted to Lotus specialists Allon White Sports Cars for an extensive recommissioning, including a full engine rebuild, gearbox refurbishment, turbocharger overhaul, replacement fuel tanks and fuel pump, restoration of the suspension and braking systems, new tyres and windscreen, together with comprehensive servicing and safety checks. Accompanying the car is a particularly appealing collection of original documentation, including its purchase receipt, period brochures, Owner's Handbook with servicing records and MoT certificates dating through to 1996.
