Produced to celebrate Subaru's association with British rallying and the legendary success of the Impreza on the world's rally stages, the GB270 represents one of the most desirable limited-edition versions of the second-generation Impreza WRX. Developed in conjunction with Prodrive, the GB270 was introduced in 2007 as a special farewell to the outgoing Impreza saloon and estate models, combining the familiar turbocharged boxer engine and permanent four-wheel-drive system with a series of performance and styling enhancements.
The name GB270 reflected both its British connection and its increased torque output, with the Prodrive Performance Pack raising power to approximately 270bhp. Just 400 saloons and 100 estates were produced for the UK market, making the GB270 a particularly interesting proposition for collectors and enthusiasts of Subaru's celebrated performance models.
The example offered here is particularly special, being number 007 of the limited production run, as confirmed by its numbered interior plaque. Appropriately, it wears the registration AO07 WRX, providing a fitting finishing touch to an already distinctive car.
Finished in Subaru's instantly recognisable metallic blue, this four-door saloon presents particularly well, with its large rear spoiler, prominent bonnet scoop, sporting bodywork and gold multi-spoke alloy wheels creating the unmistakable appearance associated with Subaru's rallying heritage. The car also features upgraded brakes, with orange performance calipers visible behind the wheels, together with a large-diameter rear exhaust. These details give it considerable road presence while retaining the character of the original GB270.
The bodywork is in good overall condition, with just a few age-related imperfections commensurate with its years and use. The blue paintwork retains an attractive shine, while the exterior trim and sporting details complement the car's purposeful appearance.
Inside, the cabin is finished predominantly in black, with supportive sports seats, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and manual gear change. The interior presents well overall, with some expected signs of use to the seating surfaces. The familiar driver-focused Subaru dashboard and practical four-door layout remain, providing an appealing combination of everyday usability and genuine performance-car character.
An especially reassuring aspect of this example is its accompanying history file. The service book contains 12 service stamps, supported by a substantial collection of invoices documenting maintenance and mechanical attention over the years. The latest service was done in 2025.
Among the paperwork are invoices from Subaru specialists SGT of Maidenhead. There are lots of supporting invoices that show continued care and upkeep of the vehicle throughout its lifetime. The car also comes with its original bookpack - service book, owners manual etc.
With an MOT valid until September 2027, a substantial collection of supporting paperwork and its desirable numbered-edition status, this is an appealing example of one of the best-known special editions from Subaru's performance-car era.
