Jaguar XK150 Special Roadster – 1958 – Handbuilt Aluminium Body – 3.4L – 5-Speed

GENERAL INFORMATION

This special 1958 Jaguar XK150 Special Roadster has been completely rebuilt and features a specially manufactured aluminium body. The car is left-hand drive, originally from America, and was imported into the Netherlands in 1992. During the restoration, the Jaguar underwent extensive technical and cosmetic work, with many parts being renewed, overhauled, or modified.

The most striking feature of this Jaguar is, of course, the all-aluminum body. The body was deliberately not finished with a traditional paint layer, leaving the brushed aluminium visible. This gives the car a very pure and distinctive appearance.

Consequently, this is not a standard XK150, but a unique Special built with great care and craftsmanship.

TECHNICAL & MECHANICAL CONDITION

Technically, the Jaguar has been extensively overhauled. The car is equipped with the well-known 3.4-liter Jaguar six-cylinder engine. The engine has been overhauled and fitted with renewed carburetors.

The original transmission has been replaced with a Borg Warner 5-speed gearbox, making the car drive more pleasantly and smoothly, even at higher speeds.

In addition, the following work has been carried out, among others:

- New wiring harness
- New water pump
- New oil pump
- New radiator
- 123 electronic ignition
- Lightweight starter ring
- Brake lines renewed - Brake

The braking system, suspension, and various technical components were also checked, overhauled, or renewed during the restoration. The car drives very well, and the combination of the 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine, 5-speed gearbox, and lightweight aluminium body makes this a particularly enjoyable Jaguar to actually drive.

EXTERIOR

The bodywork is entirely made of aluminium and built by hand.

The aluminium has deliberately not been repainted, allowing the material itself to remain visible. This gives the Jaguar a very characteristic and distinctive appearance. Various details around the car have also been renewed or modified. For example, the Jaguar is equipped with:

- Brooklands-style Aero Screens
- Extra Perspex windscreen
- New lighting
- New fixtures
- New grille
- Various period-correct details
- Special stainless steel racing exhaust
- New wire wheels.

The car does not have a traditional convertible top.

INTERIOR

The interior has been completely rebuilt and finished in water-repellent Burgundy leather. The dashboard has also been re-covered in leather. In addition, the Jaguar is equipped with new instruments in a matching style and a Moto-Lita sports steering wheel.

The sporty seats and Burgundy leather form a beautiful combination with the bare aluminum bodywork.

The interior thus aligns well with the character of the rest of the car: simple, sporty, and entirely focused on the driving experience.

DOCUMENTATION & HISTORY

Included with the car is, among other things, an appraisal report in which the restoration and technical build are described in detail. According to the appraisal report, hardly any expense or time was spared during the restoration. The car is described as a virtually unique Jaguar that has been almost completely rebuilt and can be considered a collector's item.

This Jaguar is not only special to look at, but above all, made to be driven. The combination of the 3.4-liter six-cylinder, updated carburetors, 123 ignition, 5-speed gearbox, modified brakes, and lightweight aluminium body ensures a direct and sporty driving experience.
