- An exceptionally low-mileage late-production MGB GT
- Described as “completely original and never restored”
Displaying a mere 1,685 miles at the time of consignment and surviving due to in excess of three decades of garaged storage, ‘JMH510W’ is a late-production example that was supplied and delivered to Mr Ruscoe of London E9 by Leigh & Botfield Ltd of London Lane, Hackney and registered on 17th September 1980. Ordered in Brooklands Green with the ‘deck chair’ Orange interior, there is a receipt for the tax disc and an original bill of sale on file. A purchase process captured in time, there is even a copy of the original Hire Purchase Agreement. A further Leigh & Botfield Ltd invoice on file shows ‘Protectol rustproofing Service’ applied when new at a cost of £112. With just that one former keeper other than our vendor, the current V5C is on file along with the original Blue V5 from 1980.
The mileage can be found documented: April 1982 at 984 miles; December 2014 at 1,348 miles; November 2015 at 1,499 miles; April 2017 at c. 1,500 miles; March 2020 at 1,669 miles; Oct 2026 1,685 miles.
The full book pack is as you would expect and wonderful to see, containing the Service Passport, the Driver’s Handbook and the Supercover leaflets. There is also a Radiomobile booklet for the original radio. The ‘1,000 mile Free Service’ voucher, stamped Leigh & Botfield remains unused with a stamp in the book at 984 miles by G.H Nolan Ltd, St Georges Way, London SE15 on 26th April 1982. The first recorded MOT in December 2014 showed 1,348 miles.
Other maintenance paperwork includes a Hogwood Garage Ltd, Berkshire, invoice for a new exhaust, a new petrol tank sender unit and an MOT in October 2018; an MGB Hive invoice for a set of Champion spark plugs in September 2015; MGOS Spares supplied a carb service kit, a radiator fan and a distributor in 2015. Attention has also been paid to the brakes over the years. A bill of sale from April 2021 at 1,670 miles shows the B changing hands to the vendor. It is being offered with a collection of old MOT paperwork, the first V5, the current Registration Document and the aforementioned bills of sale and that wonderful original book pack.
Hard to believe you would find many similar in such remarkable original condition, this 46-year-old MG B GT has seemingly arrived in 2026 from 1980 via a glitch in the space-time continuum! Use as if it was nearly new or perhaps keep it off the road to be enjoyed over future generations as part of a collection. Wonderful!
