Introduced in October 1974 to meet new US safety regulations, the MG Midget MkIV featured distinctive impact-absorbing polyurethane bumpers due to the need to comply with US safety legislation, the Midget’s biggest market. Capable of over 100mph and renowned for its sharp handling, the final Midget variant remained a popular and enjoyable British sports car.

This delightful 1978 MG Midget 1500 is finished in Vermillion Red with Black Trim, a popular colourway of the era, the ever-popular MG Midget was produced from 1961 until this final edition celebrated the end of production in December 1979. This is one of the later examples from a long line of very exciting sportscars for the everyman… and woman.

Looking down the bonnet from the driver’s seat is akin to the view from the cockpit of a 911 of the same time. But ‘no kidding’, a Midget like this can be as much fun in good order. What you want is a wealth of history and ‘VFO’ certainly has that in abundance with a large quantity of receipts dating back decades. Among them is an invoice for ‘restoration work’ in 1992. Much work, in fact many thousands of pounds has been spent with the likes of MGB Hive and Jacob Engineering, Gloucester (restoration work in 1992).

First registered on the 1st August 1978, this Midget is offered with the large number of invoices and old MOT paperwork as well as the current V5C Registration Document and old part-V5 documents, including an old blue V5 dating from 1997.
