This little Mini has clearly had plenty of attention over the years, and fortunately some of the work has been documented. Having been in its current ownership since 2019, it has undergone a restoration which included stripping back sections of the bodywork, preparing the panels and repainting in its bright red finish. A collection of photographs accompanies the Mini, showing various stages of the work rather than simply the finished result.
Interestingly, the paperwork also includes an old advertisement written by a previous owner, who had already spent considerable time making it resemble a Cooper. The changes included an eight-slot grille, Minilite-style alloy wheels, opening rear windows, replacement bumpers, black carpets and a Cooper-style interior. The same write-up also refers to a 12G940 cylinder head, K&N air filter and LCB tubular manifold, together with attention to the suspension bushes and other mechanical components.
There has been further expenditure during the current ownership, with numerous invoices from Mini Sport Ltd included in the history file. It is also believed to have received a replacement cylinder head, although this has not been independently verified. Alongside the invoices are a handful of previous MOT certificates and other paperwork.
The Mini has spent approximately the last year in container storage, meaning it isn't quite as fresh as when the restoration was completed. The paintwork remains good overall, although there are a couple of small rust blemishes, notably above the boot lid and around the passenger side front bodywork. Nothing particularly unusual for a Mini of this age, but worth mentioning, nonetheless.
Now showing 59,446 miles, the Mini runs and drives and benefits from historic vehicle status, making it MOT and road tax exempt. With photographs of the restoration, evidence of money spent and a previous owner's detailed account of the earlier improvements, there is a useful amount of background to accompany this characterful little Mini.
