The BMW R65 is a light touring motorcycle produced from 1978 to 1984. Featuring a 649.6 cc air-cooled flat-twin ‘Boxer’ engine, it was designed as a nimbler, shorter-stroke entry into BMW's classic touring lineup. The original R65, contrary to the views of some commentators, has the same sized frame as the larger R series motorcycles. The R65 does however have a shorter swingarm than its siblings and therefore a shorter bolt-on rear sub-frame; this, along with the shorter front forks and 18" front wheel, gives the illusion that the R65 frame is smaller.

This bike has come from a local private vendor who has owned it since May 1999 when it had done under 2,000 miles. It has since covered only 6,965 miles and is even on the original front tyre. The bike benefits from having the original BMW panniers fitted and also has the original leg shields, but these are not currently fitted. The bike has been off the road for some time and currently has no battery but it has started off a battery pack. However, it would benefit from a service and recommission prior to any riding. The bike is now eligible for Historic status to be exempt of tax and MOT requirements but the next owner will need to register this with DVLA. A truly unique proposition and one not to miss.
