Launched in 1968 and powered by the new and now famous 1779cc twin cam engine, the Alfa Romeo 1750 Spider Veloce is a standout from the crowd. This second series or more commonly known as Kamm Tail brought several changes from the first series, such as a larger luggage capacity, different front grill, improved door handles, more raked windscreen, and improved interior trim as well as the much-improved aerodynamics. The total production of these right-hand drive 1750 Kamm Tail spiders was incredibly low, with just 138 cars being produced in little over 1 year before production stopped, making it the Alfa Romeo collectors “Holy Grail" of Alfa Romeo Spiders.

First registered on the 1st September 1971, this genuine UK RHD series 2 Kamm Tail spider is presented in the rare 1750 specification, with only a further 12 more cars being produced after this one. Originally registered with registration mark ‘VMR 38K’, this vehicle has undergone a few registration mark changes, such as ‘TDD 50’ in 1983 verified by the MOT issued in May 82, then to the registration mark it retains today, ‘EDD 52K’, showing on the MOT in 1987.

Showing 9 former keepers on the v5, the first 4 owners from 1971 to 1982, and the next 3 from 1982 to 1996. The 8th owner had the vehicle for an astonishing 25 years, before it was purchased by the previous owner in 2021. The current owner has the vehicle since 2023, having well maintained the vehicle and describing it as a joy to have.

The vehicle presents very good overall, having clearly been well looked after throughout the years by owners. The paintwork presents well, with minor imperfections, such as small marks. The doors have recently been resprayed; however, they are a slightly different colour to the rest of the car, but do not detract from the overall look at all. The body work presents very well, with the sills looking solid. The interior is very good, with all the door cards, carpets and seats presenting very well, interestingly enough the chrome accents on the door cards having only just had the protective film taken off. The mohair hood is very good condition, having been fitted in 2023, folding up and down with ease. This is a lovely, tidy example of the rare 1750 Spider, starting and driving nicely.

After being acquired in December 1988, the history file records a major restoration carried in 1991/92 by Alfa Specialist BenAlfa in Wiltshire, being rebuilt with numerous new and reconditioned panels and mechanicals. The vehicle was also subsequently resprayed in Rosso 514, keeping the original colour scheme of red with a black interior, with restoration photos on file and invoices from BenAlfa during this timeline. Various invoices in the history folder, include invoices from Classic Alfa. In 2010 the engine was rebuilt by Alfa specialist David Hood, with components supplied by Classic Alfa, including upgrade to electronic ignition, 123 distributor and Bosch blue coil, the invoice from Classic Alfa is present in the history folder.

Work on the car in the last 3 years includes, Alfaholics adjustable suspension front and rear, upgraded anti roll bar, Alfaholics 4 branch manifold and sports exhaust system in stainless steel, an invoice is present for the suspension and exhaust at £2,23.51 in October 2023. In December 2023, the vehicle received a new Mohair hood and front seat cover, by Alfaholics, at £925.84. the vehicle has also had, a new start motor, new alternator, new electronic distributor, as well as other work. There are various invoices in the history folder documenting oil filters, oil etc, showing continuous maintenance on the vehicle.
