Launched in 2000 as part of the final Classic range, the Classic Cooper was a fitting tribute to the character and charm of the original Mini Cooper. Of the 3,493 Classic range cars produced for the UK market, MG Rover records confirm that just 528 were built in Classic Cooper specification, with a further 139 examples produced in left-hand drive for export markets. Faithful to the spirit of the original, the model featured 12-inch Minilite-style alloy wheels, twin spot lamps, white bonnet stripes and Old English White mirrors and roof. Available in Solar Red, Black, British Racing Green and Tahiti Blue, each car featured part leather black upholstery, while colour coded wheel arch extensions and a colour matching dashboard provided a distinctive finishing touch. These details are particularly significant, setting the final Classic Cooper apart from earlier editions, which featured black wheel-arch extensions and a wood-effect dashboard. With its carefully judged blend of heritage-inspired styling and late-production refinement, the Classic Cooper represents a distinctive closing chapter in the story of the original Mini.
Based on the Isle of Man, our vendor ordered two brand new Classic Coopers in 2000 for his daughters, one in Tahiti blue and one in Solar red. When the girls were finally old enough to drive the plan was to gift the cars and as classics they would have relatively cheap insurance, cheap running costs, classic appeal and be easy to maintain. Fast forward 26 years and the cars have remained in time-warp condition unused in storage bubbles and are no longer required by the children.
Offered here at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2026 is a remarkable, one owner, delivery mileage Classic Cooper that has been dry stored in a car bubble from new. This example is the Tahiti Blue Classic Cooper and indicates just 29 miles on the speedometer. It will require full recommissioning and represents a superb opportunity for a collector or enthusiast. It is accompanied by its original sales invoice and IoM registration paperwork ready for registration on the DLVA system. We recommend that bidders satisfy themselves of all requirements to register prior to bidding and our transport partners EM Rogers are on hand ready to handle the process if instructed.
In summary, there are few classic cars that are universally recognised with such iconic status as the Mini Cooper, what we have here is a rare opportunity to secure a fine example, with just one owner and delivery miles from the final model year of production.
