Estimated Price: £40,000 - £50,000

This exceptional and historically significant Land Rover is one of the earliest surviving Series I examples and rolled off the line only four months into production. It was the 513th into the initial production run of fifteen hundred units in 1948 and featured an original hand-made fabricated bulkhead, correct 4.8:1 differentials, early chassis finish and period-correct running gear.

Importantly, Chassis #860513 was owned by Dave Hanson ( Secretary of the 1948-53 Series I Club), most revered in Land Rover circles, who entrusted its restoration to Dunsfold Land Rover. They had purchased all of the Series I spares from Land Rover when they disposed of them and subsequently as many of the prototypes as were available to form the Dunsfold Collection, which became the basis for their restoration business. To appreciate 513's place in the timeline, the oldest Land Rover in the collection is nearly three hundred units later than 513.

The restoration was meticulous, factory perfect and #860513 represents the last Dunsfold restoration before Philip Bashall retired and closed the commercial arm of the business leaving an extraordinary museum of the marque still at Dunsfold in Surrey today. It was acquired by our vendor, an early Land Rover enthusiast fulfilling the previous owners wish. It's supplied with a ‘mountain of paperwork’ and a full photographic record of the restoration.

With such notable provenance and authenticity, this historically important Land Rover would be welcome anywhere, in any collection of significant Land Rovers, on the concours field or simply being enjoyed  at Club Events, as intended.
